One in five of our senior neighbors live alone, and almost half of all seniors report feeling lonely on a regular basis.
The seniors in our community have lived rich, full lives, yet their experience and knowledge often go underappreciated. The Santa for Seniors program works to reverse that.
Our program reignites the joy of the holidays, honoring and recognizing our seniors as vital members of our community. We work with community partners to bring meaningful gifts to the seniors who need it most—those experiencing isolation.
Santa for Seniors distributes gifts to fixed income, isolated, or homebound seniors throughout the Puget Sound region. He took it upon himself to change that, and he and his wife Trudy began dressing up as Santa and Mrs. Claus to pass out gifts to those residents. Participating local businesses and retail stores then place christmas trees and ornaments within their stores. Volunteers wishing to purchase gifts for seniors during the holidays remove an ornament from a tree, purchase the requested gift written on the ornament and then hand the gift back to participating store.
